When Duty Calls

Support begins long before labor starts, and a prepared father can make a meaningful impact through encouragement, prayer, intentional preparation, and ongoing connection.

Helping Fathers Support with Confidence, Wherever Duty Calls

Whether you're by her side in the birth room or serving your family from miles away, your role matters.

Support begins long before labor starts, and a prepared father can make a meaningful impact through encouragement, prayer, intentional preparation, and ongoing connection.

At Faithful Birth OKC, we believe fathers play an important role in the birth journey, and we're committed to helping you support your family with confidence whenever duty calls.

Phase One

Before Birth

Even from a distance, you can help create a strong foundation for the journey ahead.

  • Attend prenatal appointments virtually when possible.

  • Pray regularly for your wife, baby, and birth team.

  • Learn about labor and birth together.

  • Discuss birth preferences and family goals.

  • Write encouraging notes or record messages she can revisit during labor.

  • Help prepare the home, nursery, or postpartum plan before leaving.

  • Stay engaged through phone calls, video chats, and regular check-ins.

Phase Two

During Labor

Your presence matters — even when circumstances prevent you from being physically present.

  • Send voice messages she can listen to during labor.

  • Pray with her by phone or video call.

  • Encourage her with Scripture, affirmations, and reminders of her strength.

  • Stay available for updates whenever possible.

  • Remind her of the preparation you've done together.

  • Encourage her to lean on her support team when needed.

  • Celebrate milestones and progress throughout labor.

Phase Three

After Birth

The need for support doesn't end once the baby arrives.

  • Celebrate your wife and the incredible work she accomplished.

  • Make time for connection with both mother and baby.

  • Continue offering encouragement during recovery.

  • Help coordinate meals, family support, or practical needs from afar.

  • Ask how she's feeling emotionally, physically, and spiritually.

  • Stay involved in baby's milestones and daily life whenever possible.

  • Remind her that she is not carrying the weight of parenthood alone.

Remember

A Father's Support Is Not Measured by Distance

"I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty… I can do all this through Him who gives me strength."

— Philippians 4:12–13 (NIV)

Through preparation, encouragement, prayer, and intentional connection, you can continue to serve, support, and strengthen your family whenever duty calls.
