Continuous Labor Support

Research consistently shows that continuous labor support is associated with improved birth outcomes and a more positive birth experience.

Continuous labor support involves having a trained support person present throughout labor to provide emotional encouragement, physical comfort measures, informational support, and practical support.

At Faithful Birth, continuous support is a key component of the care we provide to help families approach birth with confidence, peace, and purpose.

What the Research Shows

Studies have found that continuous labor support may be associated with:

• Lower cesarean birth rates

• Reduced use of pain medication

• Shorter labors

• Increased maternal satisfaction

• Improved confidence during labor

• Greater partner involvement and support

Why It Matters

Birth is physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual.

When mothers feel supported, informed, and encouraged, they are often better able to navigate labor with confidence and remain focused on the work of birth.

Continuous support helps create an environment where families can feel calm, connected, and empowered throughout the birth experience.

Faithful Birth Application

Within the Faithful Birthing Framework™, continuous labor support may include:

• Emotional encouragement

• Comfort measures

• Position suggestions

• Movement support

• Partner coaching

• Evidence-based education

• Prayer and faith-centered encouragement when desired

Our goal is not to replace your husband or support team, but to help equip and strengthen them as they support you during labor.
